Yesterday was our second event of 2017 and hot of the heels from a very successful March event. This time we focused more on community speakers to some real world examples and give the audience a little bit of variety. We initially had 4 community speakers coming from all over the UK, unfortunately one of those speakers had to pull out due to unforeseen circumstances. Thanks for all that turned up, I know its never easy getting away from work especially around summer time, we appreciate the effort and thanks again to the sponsors who without them these events cant go ahead.
First up was Christopher Lewis (Lead Consultant Xtravirt) @thecloudxpert doing his first VMUG community session travelling up from London for “A VMware Admins Guide to vRealize Orchestrator”. Chris included a live demo which is always risky so hats off for including it and the session went down well.
Next up was our Gold sponsor - Rubrik demonstrating their comprehensive data management platform. Very cool tech. Ed Morgan (Systems Engineer, WEMEA Rubrik) @mo6020 was due to do the session but he couldnt make it to the event but he was there in spirit.
We then had our second community speaker of the day Chris Porter (IT Architect) @uprightvinyl who also made a trip up from London doing a fantastic session on AWS that received great feedback.
Our second sponsor of the day was 10Zig with Kevin Greenway (Managing Director 10zig) @Kevin_Greenway leading the session on “Demystifying Blast Extreme vs PCoIP.
The next session was to fill in for Myles Gray who couldn’t make it but our resident NSX guru Michael Armstrong @m80arm talking all things micro-segmentation.
Finally was out last community session by James Kilby @jameskilbynet travelling from Liverpool covering running Nutanix in real life, a really good insight into the product and included now FUD against other HCI vendors which is always cool.
The day was finished off with prizes and vBeers. Thanks to all that could make it and look out for our next event details.
