So after months of planning and advertising, our latest VMUG event took place yesterday and was a great success. We had our largest registration yet for the event and although not everyone could make it we still had people turning up on the day. As a previous attendee for these event I know its never easy getting the time away from your day job so we appreciate all that turn up.
We had a new venue this time around, a larger and grander venue which was well received and has room to grow.
First up was Atif Qadeer a VMware Senior Systems Engineer doing a talk about vRealize Operations, a really good insight with a great demo. Atif has previously lived and worked in the region which is great for the group.
Next up was Ian Sanderson a Support Manager for local VMware partner and Veeam Vanguard. This was a community session around Veeam troubleshooting.
Then we had our two sponsors - Simplivity and Rubrik - both were received well by our group, some real cool tech.
Then I was up to talk about my experience at VMworld, VMUG kindly sponsored my trip to VMworld this year so this presentation was about my experience.
Next up was Steve Wood a Senior PSO Consultant at VMware giving us an update in vSphere 6.5 and what to expect in the new release.
Finally was the last community presentation by Kev Johnson a lead technical consultant and member of the Open TechCast. A real good community group discussion about the industry that will be available on a podcast in the upcoming weeks.
All in all a successful event and shows how strong the local community is. Our next event is February 2016 we already have some great speakers and sponsors lined up so be sure to keep an eye out.
